Appco UK Campaign Progress: Next Stages of the Children’s Cancer Centre
Appco UK Campaign Progress: Next Stages of the Children’s Cancer Centre

Earlier this year, the team at Appco UK was proud to attend the Breaking Ground Ceremony at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), marking a major milestone in the construction of the new Children’s Cancer Centre – a transformative project that Appco UK has been supporting via its face-to-face campaigns for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity). The event was both a celebration of how far the campaign has come, while also looking ahead to what’s next.

This moment was particularly significant for everyone involved in the project. So far, the Appco UK campaign has resulted in around 30,000 regular supporters, a huge achievement that will help raise vital funds to bring the vision of the Children’s Cancer Centre closer to reality.

Appco UK has been proud to deliver large-scale face-to-face fundraising campaigns for GOSH Charity to help raise vital funds to support the hospital’s most urgent needs, and has been doing so for over a decade. GOSH Charity exists to support seriously ill children from across the UK, stopping at nothing to give children the best chance, and best childhood possible.

Most recently, Appco UK has been supporting GOSH Charity’s Build it. Beat it. campaign, which aims to raise £300million to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at GOSH. Seeing that support translate into real-world impact, through tens of thousands of committed donors for GOSH Charity and now, the first steps of construction, was a proud and humbling moment for the team.

A Powerful Day on Site

Appco UK’s Isabel Montoya-Perez and Shahzaib Hameed were on-site for the ceremony, held on the demolition grounds where construction of the new Children’s Cancer Centre will soon begin. Attended by some of GOSH Charity’s key donors and corporate partners who have already shown major support for the transformative project, the event also featured moving speeches, including from those who have been directly impacted by the hospital’s ability to treat rare and complex illnesses, sharing personal stories of care, courage and gratitude.

Why 30,000 Regular Supporters Matter

The event offered an opportunity to reflect on the critical role that regular donors play in making GOSH Charity’s vision of the  Children’s Cancer Centre, a reality, helping to drive transformation in children’s cancer care and save more lives. The ground-breaking new facility will be a new home for breakthrough treatments and pioneering research, and ongoing support from regular donors is key to helping build the future of children’s cancer care.

What’s Possible with Collaboration

This Breaking Ground event was an important moment to recognise progress, but also to focus on future plans. With construction now underway, the Children’s Cancer Centre is entering a new phase. Once complete, it will provide better facilities, which will enable bigger breakthroughs for children diagnosed with cancer.

For Appco UK and the wider community, it’s a strong reminder of what’s possible when charities, supporters, and partners work together with a shared purpose. Appco UK is excited to continue supporting GOSH Charity as the campaign progresses, furthering its commitment to helping charities build successful, long-term donor relationships that lead to real, lasting change in the world.
