International Women’s Day is a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements – from the political to the social – while calling for gender equality.
To help mark this event we look back at some of the fantastic achievements and remarkable milestones that have taken place over the past year involving ladies from Appco UK.
Multi-national business owner

Sales support manager Amar Sahota is a great example of an Appco employee who is working to create their own business empire. We spent 60 seconds with her back in August (because that’s all the time she had!) to find out more about Mr Singh’s Sauce, the company her family launched in 2008, and which now retails products throughout the world. Saving lives
Sarah Thomas, an independent contractor to Northampton marketing company Titanium Marketing, was ready to act when a donor she was signing up collapsed and needed CPR.
“I got him into the recovery position, and when I called for an ambulance they advised me to do CPR. It took 12 minutes and his pulse came back just before the ambulance turned up,” Sarah said. Read how her quick thinking saved a mans life here.
Taking charity work a step further
Global Fundraising Services staff member Faiza Abdulkadir has been working in Appco UK’s contact centre since 2012, ensuring those who choose to support the company’s charity partners are happy with the way they were signed up and the commitment they have made. She took her work with charities a step further this summer when she committed to raising money for a trip to Nairobi to work at orphanages and schools, and in one of Kenya’s biggest slums, Kibera, with the Agape Volunteers programme. International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900s and is now recognised each year on March 8th. Is is not affiliated with any one group, but brings together governments, women’s organisations, corporations and charities. Whether you’re an independent business owner, self-employed sales contractor or Appco employee, entrepreneurship and creativity are clearly in the blood in the Appco network – and it’s something the organisation supports wholeheartedly.
